Vic Café & Bar
mon to fri 11:00 – 22:00

The Vic Café & Bar is situated opposite the historic Mackintosh building, and is affectionately know as the Vic. The building opened in 1927 as a textile studio for the Glasgow School or Art, before being converted into a café using the remnants of the original Victoria Café in Glasgow Southside, including the old wood-panels for the interior, the seating and the original stained-glass windows. The vitreous marble signage was reinstated at the café in 2014.
Continuing the legacy of our Scottish and Italian heritage, the café serves handmade pizza and burgers, in addition to an extensive contemporary menu that’s both eclectic and affordable. The new menu showcases options from around the world, including some adventurous Asian-inspired dishes. All food is freshly prepared in-house. Aware of the needs of the modern diner, there are plenty of vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options, and the menu is complemented by a list of daily specials. The bar serves a wide range of international spirits, stocks a hand-picked choice of wine and also offers beer from local breweries such as West, Williams Brothers, Drygate and Cromarty.
“The Vic Café Bar is a hubbub of creative activity that specialises in reinventing classic comforting dishes.”
“Atmosphere is of a quirky cantina with a budget vegan and veg friendly (but not exclusively) menu. Host of eclectic dishes that changes regularly from around the world always good quality and flavourful”
“Astonishingly reasonable prices. Non-students are always welcome here and you’ll find plenty of them, particularly in the evenings sharing cheap plates of street food and several of the punchy house cocktails.”
