Project Space: How to apply

Project Space Applications are on for Semester 2!

This is our second round of applications for student use of the project spaces since re-opening last semester. These are hugely valuable spaces, free to use for students who wish to put on extracurricular exhibitions, workshops, performances, meetings and more! Despite our tiny staff team, we're determined to facilitate student use of these spaces as effectively as possible.

This semester, we have a GSA alumni and new member of staff to help us as our Project Spaces Coordinator, Janaki Mistry!

"My mission is to transform ideas into vibrant exhibitions, workshops, and performances, creating a space where students from all disciplines can unleash their creativity.

With a Master's in Curatorial Practice from The Glasgow School of Art, I bring a wealth of knowledge. Having honed my skills in organising, curating, and evaluating projects. From setting up thought-provoking exhibitions to facilitating experimental workshops, I'm here to empower students and cultivate a thriving artistic community

I've got hands-on experience in invigilating exhibitions, assisting visitors in interpreting art, and navigating industry-standard tools.

So calling all students, especially those who want to put on a project but would like some help in starting off. Let's transform the project space into a playground for experimentation—a canvas for you to test your ideas before the grand showcase at the degree show."

Each successful applicant will have one project space to use for the duration of one week. There are two project spaces for booking and four open weeks available, which means that eight applicants will be successful this round. For this semester, the following weeks are available:

  • 18th - 22nd March 2024
  • 1st - 5th April 2024
  • 15th - 19th April 2024
  • 29th April - 3rd May 2024

The deadline for this round of applications is 21st February at 5 pm. Applicants will be notified of the results by 28th February (but hopefully earlier!).

How does it work?

Before applying, please read our Guide and Rules for the project spaces. These have very important information, including dimensions and photos of the spaces, what's allowed, how to apply, access times, and what support is available. If you submit an application for a project that violates the rules, it may be rejected! So please read both documents carefully before applying.

Good luck, and we hope to see you in our Project Spaces soon!

Please watch out in your emails and on our Instagram page for the next round of applications.
