Ozric Tentacles are, simply put, legends of the UK underground. One of the most influential bands to emerge from the UK's festival scene, "The Ozrics" layer ambient and ethereal landscapes with freeform dub trips, incredible rave grooves, and psychedelic progressive rock. Their aim is not just to make truly unique and culturally diverse music, but to harmoniously unite all in attendance, and create portals for astral travel. Most fans and listeners report feelings of euphoria, an immediate connection to nature as well as others around them, and intense feelings that they have transported to other dimensions or met with other-worldly beings. It's an open exploration of music and the soul. In their 30+ years, the Ozrics have experienced the vicissitudes of the rock and roll life.

The band has flourished through a number of line-up changes, spawned several side projects (including Eat Static and Nodens Ictus), created their own record label (Dovetail & Stretchy), put out close to 30 albums, scored a hit record, and sold over a million albums world-wide. And yet, the basic motivation behind the band's existence has never wavered. A campfire at the Stonehenge free festival in 1983 witnessed the birth of Ozric Tentacles. It was there that synth player Joie Hinton, stumbled upon brother’s Ed Wynne (guitar) and Roly Wynne (bass), performing in a band known at the time as Bolshem People, along with drummer Nick 'Tig' Van Gelder (Jamiroquai). From that very first jam session, a healing musical presence was evoked that has since been a trademark of the Ozric Tentacles. It's a signature blend of hippy aesthetics and raver electronics with spiralling guitars, textured waves of keyboards, midi, samplers, and super groovy bass and drum rhythms. Having no vocals or lyrics, the multi-ethnic musical references leave the underlying meaning of each song or improvisational moment entirely up to the listener’s own interpretations. The Ozrics swiftly claimed their place as a staple of the UK's burgeoning festival scene, and are now credited an influential musical linchpin of the scene's re-emergence.

Throughout the early 1990's, constant touring of the UK helped The Ozric Tentacles to build a tremendous national fan base on a grass roots level. With the band's 1993 release "Jurassic Shift," which debuted at #11 on the British pop chart and climbed into the Top 10 in the National Album Charts, the Ozrics eventually won over the adulation of mainstream press, and found itself heralded in publications such as NME and Melody Maker. It was, and still is, an astonishing accomplishment for a band with no hit single, no celebrity status, and no major record label backing.“Washes of processed strings purr into and around echoing alien and mechanical computer textures, while the rhythm section deftly navigates complicated and danceable time signatures. The sonic rush is conducive to the psychedelic atmosphere surrounding the band and its entourage. Ed Wynne’s futuristic music could easily score any sci-fi series or film, yet it is clear that such work would cut into Ed’s alternative lifestyle and possibly ruin the source of so many perfect musical ideas.” - Mark Polzin, Classic Rock Magazine 2012 saw a tumultuous upheaval for the group. Upon arriving home from their extensive 40 date “Paper Monkeys” Tour through North America and Europe, which included debut performances in Russia, the group was immediately evacuated from their home and studio. It was located directly in the path of the most destructive forest fire in Colorado history. The band had only moments to grab their most important possessions, before they were escorted out by Police and National Guard.

Fans watched the fire’s progress as the band continued to their last concert, a festival near Philadelphia, they were unaware of what would happen, but fairly certain it wasn’t looking good. That evening, as the band took the stage, the fire destroyed their home and studio as they played, taking with it all of the bands past archives and masters. Those who knew the circumstances described the performance as “a real life tribute to the phrase: The Show Must Go On”.Last year Ozrics celebrated their 30th anniversary. To mark the date, they finally granted the wishes of many fans, by re-mastering and re-releasing a series of classics from the catalogue, which have previously been out of print for nearly 20 years. Ozric Tentacles “Vitamin Enhanced” Box Set contains the entire first 6 albums recorded by the band. These first six albums were originally only available on cassette, handmade by the band, and only sold at festivals and concerts. In 1993 these tapes were transferred to CD, and 1994 released limited edition box set, only 5,000 copies of this package were ever made, making it a rare treat for collectors. As time passed, with so many other releases to focus on, these albums fell out of print and distribution. Now they have finally been given the attention they deserve, countless hours of audio and visual re-mastering have restored this wonderfully unique package to a modern day standard that is sure to please any fan.

Ozrics are currently putting the finishing touches on their new double studio album, it will be their first double since the classic “Erpland” over 20 years ago. “Even after all this time, we’ve never been so excited or pleased with an album”, says Ed smiling, as usual. “We just can’t wait for people to hear this one. If (hypothetically), for any reason we would not able to make another album after this, we would be content in knowing we have had the opportunity to bring this particular musical journey to everyone.” Just prior to the release of their epic 90+ minute offering, the band will complete their 2014 tour dates through UK and Europe, where fans will get their first taste of tracks from the new album. Ozrics are currently on tour with special guest artist Natan Lenski, aka “MantisMash”. Natan has recently become a permanent member of Ozric Tentacles’ live electronic project “Nodens Ictus”. The Europe tour starts October 1st in the EU, and will also feature a few very special performances by Nodens Ictus along the way. If you are a fan of Ozrics and electronic music, then these performances come highly recommended! For the comp
